Identificado por el especialista Miguel Monné. La presencia de tres especies casi idénticas distribuidas en Brasil, Argentina y Paraguay (Colobothea schmidti, C. rubroornata y C. poecila= hacen que sea difícil determinar la especie por fotografía.
