Esta especie esta categorizada como casi amenazada (NT) por la IUCN, esta presente solo en Perú y el norte de Chile. por parte del gobierno peruano esta especie esta protegida y categorizada como Vulnerable (VU). su habitat es un tipico monte ribereño con especies como Pluchea chingollo y Acacia macracantha
