Se le posó al lado un Pinzón Terrestre Chico (sensiblemente más pequeño), siendo algo más grande éste. El pico se encuentra fuera de los parámetros de G. fuliginosa. El plumaje (y también la ubicación) descarta pinzones arbóreos.
