Rhodophiala andina-andícola

Aparecen en general solitarias y sus hojas acintadas se recuestan sobre el suelo. Con una vara de 20 cm. de altura crecen mirando al norte y sus sabrosos bulbitos comestibles viven hasta 9 meses cubiertos de nieve, pudiendo soportar hasta -20°C.
HÁBITAT Y DISTRIBUCIÓN: En pendientes y suelos arenosos y rocosos, y también en el límite de la vegetación arbórea.
En mapuche es Añañuca de la cordillera. En Chile es Añañuca de los volcanes.
