Especie identificada a través de consultas con egresados de la Escuela de Naturalistas de Aves Argentinas y conocedores de las especies de la zona.
Luego confirmada a través de: http://cma.sarem.org.ar/es/especie-nativa/paynomys-macronyx
Y también a través de consultas realizadas por email (con envío de fotos) a biólogos de Conicet y el Museo Argentino de Ciencias Naturales.
Según me informaron, esta especie estaba anteriormente dentro del género Paynomys, pero actualmente está como Chelemys.
