Muchos individuos en un charco de unos 10 cm de profundidad en promedio formado por el agua subterránea del río que afloraba en ese lugar. Parece increíble que puedan sobrevivir enterrados ya que el agua superficial pocas veces se ve. Determinados por un especialista en peces. Los machos son de mayor tamaño.
