Las estrías horizontales en las mandíbulas también se ven en Calosoma trapezipenne. Los tarsos más gruesos indican que es macho. Si se busca puede hallarse que esta Especie es llamada: Calosoma (Castrida) alternans granulatum. Hay discrepancias si es Subespecie o Especie, en mi opinión Calosoma (Castrida) alternans alternans de Venezuela es diferente a la de acá. Determinada con varias claves y descripciones.
