Desde su (re)descubrimiento en la zona en el año 2000 (Imberti / Savigny), se ha convertido en uno de los petreles medianos más frecuentes y abundantes en la zona cercana al talud frente a Buenos Aires y Patagonia Norte (erradicación de cerdos en Isla Inaccesible, unico sitio de cria).
