The colour is made of dust, sweated out by the beetle. You can see, that it easily rubs off (missing on second half of right elytra). Never preserved in collection specimens.
That in this species, the dust is of two colours and forming a pattern, is exceptional. Have seen only unicolour-dusted species, insofar.
