Description: Ventral, wings, and tail strongly barred with brown. Cinnamon facial disc bordered with brown. Whitish throat. Cinnamon pectoral band also with brown barring.Geographic Distribution within Argentina: Misiones, northeastern Corrientes, and eastern Formosa.Habitat: Forest and woodland edges, secondary growths, and near towns.Behavior: Nocturnal, slow and silent flight that allows it to surprise its prey.Breeding: Nests in cavities or crevices, where it lays several white eggs.Author of this description: Jorge La Grotteria
