Records from Amazonas

Other common names: Tararira Dorada.

This fish is adapted to aerial respiration, and the specialized organ for this function is the swim bladder.
It lives in the swamps and normally surfaces every 10 minutes; the intake of air through the mouth and its access to the swim bladder has been experimentally proven (Ringuelet, 1969).
