Hace algo más de un siglo, en la cima del Cerro San Bernardo se plantaron ejemplares de esta especie, posteriormente al realizarse tareas de parquización fueron quitadas del lugar, sin embargo aún hoy pueden encontrarse hijuelos dispersos por el cerro.
