Es la subespecie Cyanocorax chrysops tucumanus, no presenta un negro muy intenso en el cuello, como se evidencia principalmente en la parte expuesta a la luz del sol. Tampoco es muy notable la tonalidad crema en el blanco de la parte inferior del pecho y vientre. En otras fotos de este mismo individuo se aprecia mejor la cresta frontal alargada, característico de C. c. tucumanus. Sierra de Guasayán está ubicada muy cerca de Catamarca y Tucumán, provincias donde fue citada C. c. tucumanus.
