Esta especie, aparece en la guía de campo de aves de Colombia de Miles McMullan / 2018. pp 388. como una de las especies escapadas, que han generado comunidades salvajes y de hecho así encontré esta. Desde hace muchos años son una plaga para los cultivos de arroz del Valle del río Magdalena.
