Esta hermosa especie no está en las listas oficiales de aves de Costa Rica, ya que apenas está ingresando la especie por el norte y se reporta una moderada expansión. Con esta especie tendríamos ya tres del género Thraupis en Costa Rica; T. episcopus, T, palmarum, T. abbas
