Coloración dorsal marrón-oliva con manchas redondeadas negras en el dorso y los flancos. Ventralmente es rojo o amarillo* con manchas negras de distintas formas (http://www.serpientes-snakes.com.ar).
*Este ejemplar poseía mayormente coloración amarilla, aunque de la mitad del cuerpo para atrás se hacía presente la coloración rojiza. Además se notaban diferencias en cuanto al carenado en la cola comparando con H. infrataeniatus.
