Teius oculatus se distribuye en el sur de Brasil, así como en Paraguay, Uruguay y el centro de la Argentina, en las provincias de Chaco, Santa Fe, Entre Ríos, San Luis, La Pampa y Buenos Aires. Teius suquiensis, es en cambio un saurio endémico de la Argentina y se distribuye en las provincias de San Luis, Córdoba, Santa Fe y Santiago del Estero.
