Description: Brownish back streaked with black, dark ventral side barred with white and black on the flanks and subcaudal, white-spotted coverts and intense red iris.
Geographic Distribution: In Argentina, it is found in the provinces of Buenos Aires, Entre Ríos, Santa Fe, Córdoba, and the border between Chaco and Corrientes. It is also cited for Uruguay and Brazil.
Habitat: Saline grasslands and floodable marshes.
Behavior: Very little known, secretive, fast movements, flies quickly over the grassland to escape.
Feeding: Insects, aquatic invertebrates, seeds, and shoots of aquatic plants.
