Description: It is a medium- to large-sized spider belonging to the family Filistatidae, easily recognized by its marked sexual dimorphism, with males having slimmer bodies and extremely long legs, and females being more robust and larger. It has well-developed chelicerae and an oval abdomen, and its spinnerets produce a woolly, irregular silk, characteristic of the group.

Geographic distribution: It is widely distributed across the Americas, from the southern United States and Mexico through Central America and into northern South America. Its spread has been facilitated by its ability to adapt to urban and suburban environments.

Habitat: It inhabits dry and sheltered environments, both natural and artificial, including caves, rock crevices, hollow logs, outbuildings, and human dwellings. It usually establishes itself in dark, undisturbed places, where it can maintain its retreat for long periods.
