Records from Reserva Natural Municipal Santa Catalina (Lomas de Zamora)


Identification: Indistinguishable by photo or in the field on its dorsal side from Hermeuptychia gisella. The ocelli on the ventral side of the forewings are more distinct (a detail that is very difficult to notice).

Geographical distribution: From the central region of Argentina to the north, except for the mountain heights. Also found in Bolivia, Paraguay, Brazil, and Uruguay.

Sympatry: This species is found in sympatry with Hermeuptychia isabella from the central region of Córdoba, Santa Fe, and Entre Ríos to the north.

The Hermeuptychia sp ´isabella-gisella´ sheet should be used for Argentine records from the central region of Córdoba, Santa Fe, and Entre Ríos to the north.
