In the book "Mariposas de la Ciudad de Buenos Aires y Alrededores" by Ezequiel Nuñez Bustos, published in 2010, Hermeuptychia hermes was considered a valid species for Argentina and Uruguay. However, in the book "Mariposas de Argentina: Guía de Identificación" from 2018, its authors: Juan Klimaitis, Ezequiel Nuñez Bustos, Cristian Klimaitis, Roberto Guller, argue that it does not fly in Argentina.
