Records from Bariloche, San Carlos de Bariloche

Conservation status according to BirdLife International: Least Concern

Other common names: Tutita.

Synonyms: Troglodytes paradoxus.

Description: Head, dorsal, dark gray; wings and tail gray-brown; ventral gray slightly lighter; subcaudal rufous, very extensive; whitish eyebrow, not always noticeable; thick, pointed bill (not as thin as Scytalopus) and yellow legs.

Geographical Distribution: Chile and Argentina.

Habitat: Dense vegetation in forests.

Behavior: Very secretive.

Originally known in Chile, it has probably been under-observed in Argentina until recent years or has had an expansion that is not yet understood. A bird with few records still in Argentina, very secretive, shy, and solitary, but it can be heard from a distance. Its movements through the thick brush are quick and agile.
