- 10/12/2022: Although the HBW and BirdLife Taxonomic Checklist v7 has not yet considered this taxonomic change, EcoRegistros has implemented an "Exception" for taxonomy and begins to consider the Patagonian Sparrowhawk (Accipiter chilensis) as a valid species, following Jaramillo (2003), Pearman & Areta (2020), and Gill et al. (2022). Previously considered a subspecies of A. bicolor.
