Este Bhuo, en estudio actualmente con muestras genéticas, parece ser un hibrido entre Strix Huhula (Black-banded Owl ) y Strix Nigrolineata (Black and white Owl ). Pero la ubicación del registro es más alta , ( 2000 mt sobre nivel del mar aprox. ), que el registro de las 2 especies citadas .Se puede ver en San Isidro Lodge. Napo, Ecuador.
