Esta especie realiza un sencillo nido en el suelo pero también tiene el hábito de ocupar los nidos abandonados de otras aves, como por ejemplo de Leñatero (Anumbius annumbi), Chimango (Phalcoboenus chimango) y Cotorra (Myiopsitta monachus). En la fotografía, se lo puede observar realizando la puesta en un nido de Cotorra (Myiopsitta monachus), sobre los árboles y a una altura considerable del suelo.
