Sphecozone ignigena has been recorded for Argentina and Brazil, and it is very likely that it also occurs in Uruguay. In Argentina, it is especially common along the coast of the Río de La Plata and is distinguished by its intense red-colored opistosoma, which usually features a black spot (of variable size) on the back.It is important to note that within the Linyphiidae family, it is almost impossible to reach species or genus identification from a photo because many species from different genera exhibit the same coloration and size.Of the 34 species known in the genus Sphecozone (13 recorded to date for Argentina), a considerable number share this coloration, and the same occurs with other similar genera such as Tutaibo.Comment by: Luciano Peralta
