Description: It is characterized by having a streamlined shape, with long legs and a mane on the nape and withers. It has a general reddish coloration, with the snout, mane, and part of the legs being black.

Geographical Distribution: It is distributed in the center and south of Brazil and Paraguay, the east of Bolivia, and in the Northeast of Argentina.

Habitats: It inhabits floodable open areas, with grasslands and reed beds.

Behavior: It is crepuscular and nocturnal in habits.

Feeding: Omnivorous. It includes amphibians, reptiles, birds, and small mammals in its diet. It also incorporates wild fruits.

Threats: It is categorized as Near Threatened due to habitat modification, roadkill, illegal trade, and hunting as it is considered a threat to poultry.
